Boxing program

The Mittal Champions Trust also supports Amateur Boxing in a big way. We are supporting not only the individual boxers but also the Indian Amateur Boxing Association. We are supporting the sport by supporting events, bringing in foreign coaches, equipment, and foreign stints for training and competitions.

Shooting program

Shooting was the last sport added to the Mittal Champions Trust. They have done exceptionally well over the last few years and we feel that they needed the little push to really achieving greatness. We support a number of shooters in the shotgun and Air rifle disciplines. Shooting is an extremely expensive sport and the support from the Trust is essential to allow these guys to reach their full potential.

This a sport where India has a lot of potential and it is just a matter of time till we establish ourselves as one of the best in the world. The Trust supports 9 archers of the recurve discipline. We have 5 girls and 4 boys. They are based in Bangalore and train at the Jain School. We chose this venue because the school has some of the best facilities and sports infrastructure in not only the country but it could be compared to any place in the world. We have given our archers the best of all facilities needed. We have also upgraded them to the best possible equipment and are taking care of everything from their nutrition, fitness to clothing and medical attention

The archers all train under Korean coach Mr. Mun Baek Woon and have shown great improvement since getting support from the Trust. They have qualified for the various world cup teams and we had four of our kids on the 2006 Asian Games team. Mr. Mangal Singh Champia who has been doing exceptionally well won a bronze in the Doha along with the men’s team. This was the first medal in archery in 26 years and makes us very proud we could contribute to the sport in some way.

In archery we have tried to get a good mix of archers in terms of age. We have a few archers who are seniors and will be giving some results right away like Chekorvolu Swuro, Mangal Singh Champia. We also have younger archers who will start producing results from next year. This way we should be competitive at all times keeping in mind our eventual goal for London 2012.
